Strengthening Campus Organization Advising: Adiong Memorial State College Joins COAP 2026 Mindanao, PACSA
Two representatives from Adiong Memorial State College, Ahdil A. Ali and Nessar P. Mangoda, participated in COAP 2026 Mindanao, a two-day training-workshop on February 12–13 at Notre Dame of Marbel University, Koronadal City. The program, organized by the Philippine Association of Campus Student Advisers (PACSA), gathered thirty-one (31) higher education institutions across Mindanao and focused on strengthening the professional competencies of Campus Organization Advisers (COA). The participation formed part of the College’s commitment to benchmarking best practices and enhancing its student leadership support framework.
The program emphasized the evolving role of Campus Organization Advisers as mentors, institutional representatives, and legally accountable actors within the academic environment. Discussions underscored advisers’ civil, administrative, and professional responsibilities, highlighting the importance of due process, proper documentation, risk management, and adherence to institutional and national regulatory frameworks. The workshop reinforced that effective advising is anchored not only in leadership guidance but also in legal awareness, ethical standards, and shared institutional responsibility.
The training modules covered key areas such as legal foundations of student advising, preventive risk management, governance structures for student organizations, and structured event management systems. Participants examined case scenarios involving higher-risk activities, disciplinary procedures, and compliance protocols. Best practice models from established institutions were also presented, including standardized approval systems, financial accountability measures, and structured adviser supervision. A cultural engagement segment further provided opportunities for professional networking and inter-institutional dialogue among advisers.
During the workshop, the College’s delegates actively participated in collaborative discussions and research development activities alongside fellow advisers from other institutions, including representatives from Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges. The exchange of perspectives contributed to the development of research concepts focused on adviser competencies and institutional strengthening, reflecting the College’s openness to academic collaboration and continuous professional growth.
The completion of the required training modules during the Mindanao workshop signifies the College’s active engagement in structured capacity-building initiatives for Campus Organization Advisers. The institution’s involvement in COAP 2026 reflects its continuing effort to strengthen its campus organization advisory framework through informed policy alignment, responsible governance practices, and strategic benchmarking. The insights gained from the workshop will serve as guiding reference points for future planning initiatives aimed at enhancing student leadership development, operational accountability, and sustainable institutional growth.
