Bicol University and Adiong Memorial State College ink Strategic Partnership to Bolster Instruction, Research, and Extension

Albay Sports Complex, Legazpi City — Bicol University (BU) and Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 15, 2026, marking a significant milestone for academic collaboration in the region.

The agreement, signed by BU President Dr. Baby Boy Benjamin Nebres and AMSC President Dr. Sherifa Rohannie K. Adiong, focuses on strengthening cooperation in instruction, research, and extension.

This strategic partnership aims to leverage Bicol University’s status as a Center for Development in various programs to help AMSC enhance its own research and extension capabilities. Also present at the signing was BU Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Ma. Julieta B. Borres, a colleague of Dr. Adiong from the Wharton Executive Education program.

The MOU signing took place during the 56th Bicol University Commencement Exercises, where Dr. Adiong was a featured guest. The graduation ceremony, themed "Class of 2026: Values-Driven Workforce, Digitally Inclined Lifelong Learners," was held at the BU Legazpi West campus, Legazpi City.

The event was graced by former Philippine Vice President and current Naga City Mayor, Hon. Maria Leonor "Leni" G. Robredo, who served as the commencement speaker. In her address to the graduates, Mayor Robredo highlighted the inevitable presence of technology, stating, "AI is here to stay... for better or worse". She concluded her speech with a call to integrity, urging the new graduates to "do good work" and "strive to be human" regardless of where their professional lives lead them.
