AMSC Research and Innovation Team advances Institutional Capabilities in 3-Day Project Management and Scientific Writing Training at MSU-Naawan
MSU- Naawan, Misamis Oriental — In a concerted effort to scale up institutional research output and refine project implementation protocols, the Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) Research and Innovation Team successfully participated in an intensive three-day capability-building programme held at Mindanao State University-Naawan (MSU-Naawan) from June 17 to June 19, 2026.
The AMSC delegation was prominently led by Research Director Alliah A. Pandapatan, alongside dedicated Research Assistants Jaber Gumaga, Sohryah Jamel, Abdulfattah Minalang, and Omaidah B. Adiong. The delegation joined counterparts from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) under the MinSuPala-IRDC (Innovative Research and Development Consortium) framework, establishing a collaborative ecosystem aimed at driving regional development through robust scientific inquiries.
The extensive three-day programme was divided into distinct thematic training modules, specifically outlined across three detailed schedules referenced in the institutional documents.
The first day, June 17, focused extensively on Project Management Training about Project Planning, Results-Based Management, and Monitoring. Following a warm welcome address by Dr. Elnor C. Roa, Chancellor of MSU-Naawan, the sessions were spearheaded by Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Global Engagement. Dr. Capangpangan guided participants through Project Planning, Design, Results-Based Management, and Adaptive Management workshops, ensuring that attending SUCs possess the tools required to track project milestones with transparency and high structural alignment.
The focus shifted on June 18 and 19 toward "Scientific Writing and Advanced Publication Ethics” which explored about Publication Strategies, Peer Review Process, Scientific Writing Clinic and AI Tools, Indexing Systems, and Presentation of Draft Manuscripts with Panel Feedback. Across these final two days, Dr. Capangpangan and Dr. Benjoe Rey Visayas, Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Partnership, dismantled the complexities of the modern publication landscape. Crucial subjects covered included indexing structures such as Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), and the ASEAN Citation Index, alongside the ethical usage of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in drafting manuscripts.
The final day concluded with interactive peer reviews and draft manuscript presentations, where the AMSC team received direct panel feedback to fast-track their submissions to international journals. Dr. Raquel D. Santiago- Arenas, the Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Global Engagements of MSU-Maguindanao, delivered a motivating closing message, urging and expressing her words of gratitude to all participating SUCs most especially the host institution, MSU-Naawan to sustain the rigorous standards of excellence established during the three-day convention.
