MENRE-MGS BARMM conducts Geohazard Assessment for Proposed AMSC Extension Campus in Bubong
Brgy. Madanding, Bubong, Lanao del Sur — In preparation for the Fiscal Year 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) Capital Outlay and Infrastructure Projects, a joint technical team successfully completed a comprehensive two-day geohazard assessment and site inspection at the proposed Adiong Memorial State College (AMSC) Extension Campus from July 21 to 22, 2026. The technical evaluation aimed to ensure the environmental compliance, structural safety, and overall geological feasibility of future academic infrastructure slated for construction in the municipality of Bubong.
The site inspection was conducted following an official request submitted by AMSC SUC President I, Dr. Sherifa Rohannie K. Adiong, DiSDS, MPM, to Provincial Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy Office (PENRO) Officer Asmarie M. Labao, MPA. The initiative sought the immediate conduct of a site investigation required for securing a Geohazard Certification, a mandatory prerequisite for budget preparation and institutional development projects funded under the upcoming national budget.
The multi-agency technical evaluation was spearheaded by experts from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy - Mines and Geosciences Services (MENRE-MGS) BARMM. The field team was led by Geologist II Leah I. Mapula, alongside Geologist I personnel Lustre Luke Angelo H. Oliver, Maam Mary Janedel C. Reyes, and Sir Rafael Christopher T. Bolo. The technical team was accompanied during the field operation by Administrative Assistant Laila Masacal and Administrative Aide Abdulwahid S. Kusain.
Joining the MGS assessment team were key environmental representatives, including Forester II Janalodin Kurangking from CENREO Marawi City, who also serves as Chief of Mines and Geoscience Services at CENREO Matampay, Marawi City, as well as Sir Aminoddin A. Calandada, JD, DMO II and PENRO MGS Focal Person. The joint delegation was received and assisted across all survey areas by the AMSC Planning Team, headed by Sir Anuar Amerol, alongside State College administrators and staff.
Throughout the two-day period, the assessment team inspected the surrounding terrain, adjacent water channels, and land parcels in Barangay Madanding to evaluate potential risks such as flooding, soil erosion, and land instability. The team also held strategic coordination meetings at the AMSC Main Campus, marking a significant milestone toward building a safe, resilient, and accessible extension campus for the students and communities of Lanao del Sur.
